Patti has been skating for over 30 years. During her skating career she passed US Figure Skating's Senior Moves in the Field, Intermediate Freestyle, Bronze Dances and First Figure Tests. She has been a member of the Three Rivers Figure Skating Club since it began, and before that she was a member of the FSC of Minneapolis. She trained with many coaches, including Karen Heng Olson and Ari Leib.
Currently, Patti coaches figure skating to the next generation of figure skaters. She started teaching group lessons in 1997 and began private lessons with skaters of all ages in 2000. Patti currently teaches at the Brooklyn Park and Maple Grove Ice Arenas with the Three Rivers FSC. She also helps to direct the Maple Grove Summer Skating Clinic, which is held each summer at the Maple Grove Ice Arena.
Patti is a full member of the Professional Skaters Association (PSA) and holds a Master Moves in the Field Rating, Registered Freestyle Rating, and a Certified Group Rating. She regularly attends seminars, conferences, and any other opportunities to enhance her skating knowledge. Patti loves to learn and share new exercises and techniques to help her skaters improve and grow as figure skaters and as people, too!
Throughout the years Patti has also worked and volunteered in many skating events. In 2004, Patti worked for ABC Sports as a sports runner/jump caller during the Campbells International Figure Skating Classic, which was held in St. Paul, Minnesota. During the 2008 US Figure Skating National Championships, Patti volunteered over 30 hours as an ice surface patcher and as a security volunteer. Most recently, Patti volunteered over 25 hours at the 2016 US Figure Skating National Championships as an ice monitor, security, and ice surface patcher volunteer.
When she is not skating, Patti spends her time volunteering with the Animal Humane Society in Golden Valley, MN. She has volunteered over 4000 hours in the Veterinary Services and Surgery Departments. In the picture above, Rex(the dog on the left), was adopted from the Humane Society! Patti also loves to inline skate(summer) and cross country ski(winter) all around Elm Creek Park Reserve.
Patti holds a BS degree in Animal Science, and a minor in Scientific and Technical Communications from the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities.
